SAVE $200: As of Nov. 25, the 14-inch M5 Apple MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is on sale for $1,399.99 at Amazon and $1,399 at Best Buy for Black Friday. That’s a full $200 off its $1,599.99 list price and the lowest price to date.

Apple’s M5 MacBook Pro arrived in all its glory just last month, so seeing a massive Black Friday price drop is a welcome surprise.

As of Nov. 25, the 14-inch Apple M5 MacBook Pro base model — which comes with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage — is on sale for only $1,399.99 at Amazon and $1,399 at Best Buy. That’s a full $200 off its list price and a new best-ever price for the laptop. Walmart also has a similar deal, but it’s listed from a third-party seller, which we don’t typically recommend.

The M5 MacBook Pro is a whole lot like its predecessor, but as Mashable’s tech editor Tim Beck Werth noted in his review, “That hardly matters with a device this good.” If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? It comes with the same 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, which Werth calls “beautifully crisp,” as well as the same 24-hour battery life, black and silver color options, 12MP Center Stage camera, and six-speaker sound system. The biggest upgrade, of course, is the super-powered M5 chip.

It achieved a 17 percent improvement over the M4 chip on the Geekbench performance test, with a score of 17,470. Of the many Windows laptops, Chromebooks, and other MacBooks we’ve tested, it outperformed 93% of them. Translation: it’s a beast.

While it’s not an automatic upgrade over the previous generation, it’s certainly a worthy option if you’re seeking the most well-rounded and future-proofed laptop in Apple’s lineup. Considering the M4 Pro with the same specs is currently just $50 cheaper, we definitely recommend going with the M5.
