Microsoft Outlook appeared to crash on Thursday, leaving lots of people scrambling as the work day began in the United States.

Reports of issues spiked on Down Detector around the early East Coast hours. (Disclosure: Ziff Davis owns both Down Detector and Mashable.)

“Microsoft is working to resolve an issue some customers may be experiencing accessing their online email service,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Mashable in an email. “More details are available on the service health portal and updates are available on [@MSFT365Status].”

The company’s service status page showed on Thursday that Outlook was down. “Users may be unable to access their mailbox using any connection methods,” the page read, noting that the company was working to fix the issue.

Users online were complaining about the apparent outage, especially as the work day began. Outlook manages everything from email to calendars, which makes the outage a major inconvenience.
