New iPhones mean new opportunities to break said iPhones on purpose to demonstrate how durable they are. That’s what Allstate Protection Plans did in its latest YouTube video, dropping the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro from six feet high in a variety of configurations to test their mettle compared to last year’s iPhone 12 models.
If you were hoping for a big change from last year, we have some bad news. According to Allstate Protection Plans, the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are almost exactly as durable as the iPhone 12 models. Even with a MagSafe case on, a face-down drop from six feet was enough to crack the phone. The iPhone 13 did survive a couple of back-down drops both with and without the MagSafe case, though the 13 Pro actually got damaged on the first back-down drop.
Apple finally got around to fixing the battery this year. Maybe next year it’ll address durability.
