Ford will livestream the launch of its first electric F-150 next week. And it has a very familiar name.
The pickup truck will be called the F-150 Lightning. Yes, that’s also the name of a special edition of the popular Ford truck released in the 1990s.
The F-Series dates back to the 1940s, but the F-150 Lightning is the company’s first electric pickup truckFord’s Mustang Mach-E, which arrived late last year, was the U.S. automaker’s first all-electric SUV.
The Lightning is expected to start at about $70,000 and come with dual electric motors for all-wheel drive. It will compete with a growing list of electric trucks, including the Tesla Cybertruck, GMC Hummer EV supertruck, Chevy Silverado EV, and Rivian R1T. Read more…
